Signs of root-plate movement
Raised soil, exposed roots, a tilted trunk, fresh cracks in the ground, or a tree that rocks at the base can indicate loss of stability.
Keep the work area clear
Do not park, play, or stage equipment beneath a tree that has shifted. Keep people away from the fall zone and treat nearby utility lines as energized until the utility company confirms otherwise.
Assessment before cleanup
The safest plan may involve removal, controlled reduction, or temporary access restrictions. A site review should account for the tree, targets, access, and cleanup route.
